WELLSBURG -- Brooke Hills Playhouse, along with season sponsors Municipal Mutual Insurance Co. and Reasner Funeral Home, has announced its upcoming final show will be "Last Round-up of the Guacamole Queens."

Winding up its 52-season, this comedy will be presented Aug. 18-19 and Aug. 25-26 at 8 p.m. and 2 p.m. Aug. 20 and Aug. 27.

Written by Jones Hope Wooten, the show centers around the Verdeen cousins of Sweetgum, Texas. The ladies race against time to organize the ultimate high school reunion before their alma mater is demolished.

It features many of the characters who performed in "The Red Velvet Cake War," officials noted. Director Diana Mendel of Wellsburg explained, "The entire cast and I have been laughing nonstop since our read-through and well into our rehearsals. This truly is a show you don't want to miss if you like to laugh and enjoy comedy at its finest."

Included in the cast are Crystal Sharma and Dan Harry of Bethany; Connie Knollinger-Wendel of Glen Dale; ReGina Pino and Joseph Pino of Upper Sandusky; Sheila Cavalette of Weirton; Sherri Hall of Wellsburg; Bob Lane, Kim Brown and Betsy Young-Joseph of Wheeling; and Rob DeSantis of Follansbee.

Tickets are $10 for children, $12 for senior citizens and $14 for adults. The box office opens one hour prior to performances.

Donations are still being sought toward matching a state grant that would improve all electricity within the apple barn that was build prior to the Civil War and has served as the playhouse's home for decades.

"We are so very thankful for all of the funds collected so far, but we are still in dire need of $20,000, explained Mendle, who serves as the president of the Brooke County Arts Council as well. The council is the playhouse's parent organization.

"Anyone who is able to make a donation of any kind -- either a one-time gift or to set up a monthly donation, would help the playhouse enormously," Mendel concluded. For information about the play or to make a donation, call or text (304) 737-3344.
