WEIRTON -- The Three Score Seniors met at Undo's Restaurant for its July meeting.
President Ed Powell welcomed members and Bob Shirer provided the invocation.
Powell led the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and Mary Ellen Groves led members in the singing of "God Bless America." Dinner followed.
House Chairman Kathy McCarrick used a patriotic theme to decorate for the evening's meeting and members attending dressed appropriate to the theme.
Powell introduced the evening's program which featured those from the Casey Sisters School of Dance. "Mrs. Donald Groves introduced the dancers and their performances were enjoyed by all," Powell commented.
Reservation Chairman Vivian Weigel reported an attendance of 51 members.
Membership Chairman Brenda Edwards announced the group currently has 72 members. She noted Donna Filipowski, who attended as a guest of Nancy Lellie, will be joining the seniors as a new member.
Sunshine Chairman Winnie Kemp explained get-well and sympathy cards were sent on behalf of the group to those in need.
Happy birthday was sung to Leah Shirer, Jeff Krahel and Mary Margaret Klepadlo.
Historian Lee Edwards reported the album was up to date and on display for the evening. Jim Hare, Edwards, Larry Purks and Betty Virtue gave prizes to Denise Shade, Edwards, JoAnn Kerr, Jim Hare, Lois Cox, Donna Filipowski and Edwards.
George Pohlman and Powell entertained members with jokes.
Shirer gave the benediction.
The Aug. 24 meeting will use a Hawaiian theme and members are encouraged to dress appropriately to correlate with that theme, it was stated. The menu for the meeting will consist of spinach salad, stuffed chicken breast or pulled pork sandwiches, baked potato and candied carrots.
