The winner of New Cumberland's yard of the month award went to Lee Watson of Eden Valley. Watson's yard is filled with a variety of perennial flowers along the front and sides of his home. The perennials are spaced around his garden shed and driveway as well. He admits many of the flowers are ones purchased from the bargain shelf at Lowe's. However, with time, he managed to nurse the flowers back to health. For his efforts, he was presented with a check and framed certificate. Watson, along with Mayor Will White, took possession of the city's yard sign which reads, "Yard of the Month." The sign will remain with Watson until next month's winner is selected. The monthly award is a joint project of the city of New Cumberland and New Cumberland volunteers.
