Church to celebrate 225 years
TORONTO--The Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will hold a special celebration as it prepares to hold its 225th anniversary, Sunday.
The morning church service will take place at 10:45 a.m., followed by a lunch at 12:30 p.m. Another service will be held at 2:30 p.m.
The community is invited to attend this celebratory event. One does not need to be a member to attend any of the services.
Organizers invite all to come hear about the history of the church -- which they stated is older than the township itself. The history of the old schoolhouse, which is now the Pleasant Hill School House Historical Museum on state Route 213, will be discussed as well.
It was noted the church has recently made some new additions, including installing a new pavilion in back of the church and adding two graphic signs depicting the church's history.
One of the signs is located at the church and the other was placed at the cemetery, officials said.
Those interested in learning more about the history of the church, built in 1798, can read the signs to learn more. The church is located at 159 county Road 68 in Toronto.
Weir High Class of 1970 meeting date
WEIRTON -- The Weir High Class of 1970 will hold its dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Route 22 Sports Bar.
All classmates and guests are invite to attend.
