Fundraiser breakfast set for Sunday
STEUBENVILLE -- A breakfast and bake sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Fifth Street and Madison Avenue in Steubenville. Sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 33, the sale will raise money toward holding a Christmas party for disabled veterans in local nursing homes.
BPW meeting change
FOLLANSBEE -- The Follansbee Chamber of Commerce has announced to BPW members that the scheduled meeting which was to take place Wednesday has been moved to noon on Thursday at the Community House. The meeting to honor women in business, organized and sponsored by Puskarich Accounting, has been moved due to the Wellsburg bridge opening events. Members are encouraged to attend and support those in Wellsburg. The Women in Business luncheon is $15. Anyone needing to RSVP should do so by Monday, officials stated.
Chicken dinner fundraiser
UNIONPORT -- The Unionport Lodge F&AM No. 333 will hold a chicken and steak dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 23, located on county Road 39 in Unionport.
The menu consists of half a chicken or steak, baked potato, coleslaw, green beans, cake and ice cream. Chicken is $10 and steak is $15.
Lions to hold final pulled pork sale
NEW CUMBERLAND -- The New Cumberland Lions Club will be selling pulled pork sandwiches for $7 at the New Cumberland Fall River Fest from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 23 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 24. The pork is provided by Hale's High Street Kitchen at Franco's. Potato salad and baked beans will be sold as sides for $1 each. Sides may be added individually or both to make it a meal. Bottled water and soda will available for $1.
This is the final pulled pork takeout for 2023.
The Lions Club will be holding drawings for several items, including a Blackstone pizza oven and an American Girl Steeler Fan Doll package. Tickets for the pizza oven are $5 per ticket or $20 for five tickets. Tickets for the American Girl package will be $1 per ticket or $5 for six tickets.
Tickets will be available at the Lions Club table and the drawing will be held the afternoon of Sept. 24. Winner need not be present to win. All proceeds are used to fund Lions Club projects.
Story hour offered each Monday
FOLLANSBEE -- The Follansbee Library offers story hour for children 2-5 and their caregivers, at noon each Monday.
It includes a craft, games and snack. Seating is limited, so registration for the free program is required by calling Kim Harless at (304) 737-1551 ext. 106.
Crochet club to meet
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library's Crochet Club will meet at noon Wednesday.
The adult group is for beginners through experts. Participants should bring their own supplies and projects.

Book club to meet
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library Book Club will meet in person and virtually at 5 p.m. Sept. 28 to discuss "Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents" by Isabel Wilkerson.
Participants will receive the book they will discuss next month.

Music, art and movement event
WELLSBURG -- The Soul Shine yoga studio will hold a free mindful movement and art event at 11 a.m. Sept. 30 at the E.R. Nichols First Ward Park near Fourth Street.
With music provided by Aaron Carey, Taylor Aitken Provenzano will lead participants in creating a one-of-a-kind community art piece.
