Alpha Tau Chapter celebrates Founder’s Day

NEW CUMBERLAND -- The Alpha Tau chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, International Honorary Organization for Women Educators held its October meeting at the Swaney Memorial Library in New Cumberland. The meeting was called to order by President Amy Hannahs.

The "Thought for the Day," was given by Chaplain Kathie Griffith, reading from "A Teacher's Heart."

Roll call was taken and minutes distributed by Secretary Velda Icard. Icard read several items of correspondence.

Hannahs gave the treasurer's report, after which Fran Jones, Ways and Means chairman, provided an update on the scholarship fundraiser.

In other business, the group discussed ways to celebrate Alpha Delta Kappa Month, which is held annually during October.

Alpha Tau will host the upcoming Ohio Valley district meeting, it was stated. Items related to that meeting were presented.

Susan Gracie and Rita Schmitt were assisted by Tammy Fields in presenting a Founder's Day program which honored four creators of the organization.

The November meeting will feature a project to create a special T-shirt.

Hostesses for the meeting were Diane Bowers, Ginger Greene and Michelle Lewis.
