Lions to hold wine-tasting event
WEIRTON — The Weirton Lions Club will be holding a fall wine-tasting event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Victorian Hall on Pennsylvania Avenue. Tri-State Winemakers Club will be sharing its creations. The cost per person is $15. Tickets are available from any Lion Club member or can be purchased at the door.
Included in the wine-tasting are heavy hors d’ oeuvres and beverages. There will be a Chinese auction and 50/50 drawing, with proceeds from the event benefiting the Weirton Lions community projects. The club assists those in the Weirton area with eye exams and the purchase of glasses, along with other community assistance projects. The Lions will hold a Weirton Lions Night From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 2 at Texas Roadhouse. Residents can help members with its community projects by showing a special flier at the roadhouse when getting meals and the Lions will receive 10 percent of the purchase. Fliers are available from members or a photo of the flier can be taken with a phone, which will be accepted by roadhouse staff. Cabbage roll sale
TORONTO — St. Joseph Church Hall will hold its annual cabbage roll sale from noon to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 5. The event will take place at the church hall, located at 1225 N. River Ave. in Toronto.
Sponsored by the Toronto Catholic Woman’s Club at St. Francis and St. Joseph Churches, the cabbage roll dinners will include mashed potatoes, green beans, a roll and butter. A one cabbage roll dinner is $12; a two cabbage roll dinner, $15; and a cabbage roll only, no sides, $6 each.
