Haunted house to open Friday
WEIRTON -- Stan Fiedorczyk and Mark Kaczmarek have announced they will be putting on the fourth-annual Night of Terrors Haunted House. Admission is $10, and it will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and on Oct. 20-21.
The event is located in the Sacred Heart of Mary cafeteria, located at 200 Preston Ave. in Weirton.
Fundraiser for homeless cats, Saturday
WEIRTON -- The Hancock County Humane Foundation is inviting everyone to Wiskerfest 2023 to help all of the cats in its care. The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Victorian Hall in Weirton. Its biggest fall fundraiser will include food, drink, a disc jockey and more than 40 drawing prizes. All of the proceeds will go directly to help the homeless animals in the foundation's care. St. Mark to hold garage sale
STEUBENVILLE -- St. Mark Lutheran Church on Lovers Lane will hold a garage sale on some of its items from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Organizers noted in addition to glassware, clothing and furniture, fishing poles and miscellaneous items will be available.
Trick-or-Treat Trail returns
WELLSBURG -- Brooke Hills Park will hold a Trick-or-Treat Trail at 1 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 and involves a walk-through of various treat stations manned by local businesses and organizations. The event is aimed at those who are fourth grade or younger. Those attending are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes.
ARSE to meet for luncheon
WEIRTON -- The Hancock County Association of Retired School Employees will meet at noon Tuesday for a luncheon at the Garden Grill on Three Springs Drive in Weirton.

Libraries to show films
The Follansbee Library will show the PG-rated film "Wing and a Prayer," at noon Oct. 20. The Brooke County Library in Wellsburg will show the new, PG-rated live-action musical "The Little Mermaid," at 5 p.m. Oct. 19. Attendees are welcome to bring a lunch for the noon screening. Senior center to hold health fair
FOLLANSBEE -- The Brooke County Senior Center will hold a health fair for people of various ages from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 23 at the Follansbee Community House.
There will be flu shots, blood pressure screenings and yoga instruction, as well as information from several health-oriented organizations.
Comment sought on precinct changes
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Commission will accept comments regarding proposed changes to two voting precincts and one polling location in Weirton during its regular meetings.
Meetings are held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays at the Brooke County Courthouse.
The precincts and polling site will be altered to allow the city to hold its next election in conjunction with next year's state, county and national elections.
