Events at Buena Vista church
STEUBENVILLE -- Buena Vista United Methodist Church, located at 3801 Schenley Ave., will hold two fundraising events this week. Both will take place at the church.
Football Fun Night is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The community is invited to attend. Refreshments will be provided.
An indoor garage sale is planned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Soup and sandwiches will be available for purchase. Vendors interested in participating can rent a table for $20.

Coalition on Housing to meet
STEUBENVILLE -- The Coalition on Housing and Homelessness will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Urban Mission's War Memorial building, located at 423 North St.
This will be the last quarterly meeting of the year. Those attending are welcome to invite guests.
City retirees to meet
HOPEDALE -- Members of the Steubenville City Schools Retirees met for lunch at Capraro's Restaurant and Lounge.
The Christmas charity collection continues for those adults in need.
The next luncheon meeting will be held Nov. 9 at Theo Yianni's in Weirton.
Introduction to Japanese offered
WELLSBURG -- West Liberty University's Japanese outreach coordinator, Manami Kawazoe, will offer instruction in the Japanese language from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Brooke Couanty Public Library.
Instruction continues from noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 18 and Dec. 2. Classes are free and cover the alphabet.
