STEUBENVILLE -- The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferon County will be hosting a variety of activity and events pertaining to the month of October. The following are some of what is being offered this month at the Main Library Branch.
"Haunted at the Main Library" will take place Oct. 21.
Join library officials for an afternoon filled with fun, ghoulish activities, a spooky atmosphere. There will be an array of presentations for everyone -- adults and children, alike.
Officials will start at 11 a.m. with Edgar Allan Poe readings. The readings will be performed by library assistant Jacob Baugher.
Attendees will learn about Poe's contribution to the canon of Western literature and listen to excerpts of his most famous poems and short stories, officials noted.
Author James Willis of "Weird Ohio" will give a glimpse inside his ghost-hunting organization, the Ghosts of Ohio, at 1 p.m.
Ghosts of Ohio is a paranormal research team dedicated to reporting hauntings throughout Ohio.
Everyone attending the event will have the opportunity to try on some ghost-hunting equipment and listen to ghostly audio, and see video and photographs as part of the presentation.
Children and teenagers will have the opportunity to make a mothman prophecy keychain at noon.
Guests will have time to make slime and decorate not-so-spooky doughnuts at 2 p.m.
Attendance for the programs are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Seating is limited.
