The Academy of Lifelong Learning held an open house Sept. 9 to showcase its classes for the fall semester. The event took place at the First Westminster Presbyterian Church. Officials explained the primary purpose of the academy family is to offer a group study and learning opportunity to the adult community. The Rev. Jason Elliott and the church have made it possible to offer spiritual, educational and social interests all in one place, organizers stated. Our Place and the academy will combine forces to promote this endeavor, with classes starting today at the church. For information contact President Iris Craig at (704) 544-5169. Those taking part in the open house included Sandy Boilegh, Donna Zende and Christine Pierce, Lattee Chinakarn and Lisa Chinakarn. – Contributed photos
