Teacher’s sorority recognizes member’s retirement at meeting
STEUBENVILLE — The Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta’s Teacher’s Sorority met Oct. 3 for its monthly meeting at Malara Hall. President Linda Lenzi presided and welcomed members and guest speaker.
President Lenzi congratulated Michele Fabbro on her retirement from the Indian Creek school system. Lenzi presented Fabbro with a gift from the club in recognition of her distinguished career.
Janice McClain introduced the guest speaker for the night, Becky Foster, ombudsman for the Ohio Dept. of Aging. Foster, who works on a voluntary basis, explained she has undergone training for the position and passed a test to become an ombudsman.
As an ombudsman, she visits the many nursing homes in Jefferson County, listens to the problems of patients and families and helps to find solutions to make residents’ lives better.
Secretary Joyce Cammilletti read thank yous, followed by the reading and approval of minutes.
The treasurer’s report was presented and approved. Chaplain Pam Fithen read “The Road Not Taken,” by Robert Frost, after which a moment of silence and prayer was held in memory of member Debbie Dantley who recently died.
Ways and Means Chairman Sue Davidson reported the mums sale was a success, thanking all who helped. She reported all of the mums were sold.
Members completed a word search of ADK terms for fraternity education.
Donations were collected for Hutton House and the Urban Mission.
A site has not been determined for the society’s Christmas party.
Most members present indicated they would attend the ADK East Central District meeting, held Saturday, at Dee Jay’s. Money was to be collected during the meeting for the Friendship Room.
A date has not been decided for the November meeting, according to members.
Hostesses for the night were McClain and Debbie Wells.
