WEIRTON -- This Saturday, the internationally-known detectives, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, return to Cloak and Dagger On the Air with a brand-new adaptation of a fan-favorite story, "The Adventure of Silver Blaze," by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
The production will coincide with Weirton's Christmas on Main Street festival.
Beginning at 3:30 p.m. with R.J. Gaudio, troubadour, providing a warm-up acoustic set, "Cloak and Dagger On the Air: The Memoirs of Holmes and Watson," will start at 4 p.m. at Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau, located at 3539 Main St.
"We're excited to be performing during Christmas on Main Street," stated Pete Fernbaugh, artistic director and head writer for the Ohio Valley Cloak and Dagger Co. "We hope folks attending the festival stop by to see what our show is all about -- especially if they haven't been able to make one of our previous performances."
The 90-minute production will run straight through, leaving enough time before and after for people to enjoy the festival and the evening's fireworks.
"'The Adventure of Silver Blaze,'" which involves the disappearance of a thoroughbred racehorse and the murder of his trainer, is best-known for originating the phrase, 'The curious incident of the dog in the night-time,'" Fernbaugh continued.
"It's the clue that helps Holmes solve the case and later inspired the title of an award-winning novel and play that was recently performed by the West Liberty Hilltop Players," he added.
Two original Christmas offerings to match the festival's theme include Daphne Doolittle in "The Case of the Satanic Santa" and "Wee Nellie Netter and the Christmas Angel."
"Comedy, drama and seasonal sentiment will all be a hallmark of Saturday's show, pun possibly intended," Fernbaugh said. "Our cast features some of the area's best performers. We hope people stop by to see the show and end up staying for the whole run."
Those starring in the show include the following Wayward Saints, Rob DeSantis, Bethany Fernbaugh, David Gaudio, Robert J. Gaudio, Noah Hilton, Karissa Martin, Clare McDonald, Ralph Parissi, Abby Perry, Terri Perry, Maura Danielle Reiff, John E. Reilly and George Spelvin.
Roberta Fedoush provides the score.
The Holy Foley Molies created the sound effects.
Admission is free, although donations help to cover production costs and are always appreciated, officials said.
Light refreshments and water will be available.
The program will be livestreamed from the Ohio Valley Cloak and Dagger Facebook page starting at 3:30 p.m.
Because of Christmas on Main Street being celebrated at the same time, parking may be more of a challenge than usual, according to Fernbaugh.
He is urging those attending the show to give themselves extra time to find a parking space, since the lot behind the Top of W.Va. fills up quickly on festival days.
Individuals with mobility impairments may more easily enter through the building's front entrance. Members of the troupe are happy to assist these individuals.
