American Legion to hold flea market
WEIRTON -- The Weirton American Legion Post 10, located at 3140 Pennsylvania Ave., will hold an indoor flea market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Organizers stated there are 20 tables which will feature many bargains that are perfect for those wanting to get an early start on their Christmas shopping.
In addition to homemade cookies and vintage items, breakfast will be served at the cost of $4. The meal includes two pancakes, two sausages and coffee.
Retired school employees luncheon
WEIRTON -- The Hancock County Association of Retired School Employees will be holding a Thanksgiving luncheon, Sunday. The luncheon will take place at the Hancock County Senior Center on Gas Valley Road. To make a reservation, call Rita Orler at (304) 748-7735.
Hollyday Market set for Sunday
STEUBENVILLE -- A Hollyday Market Vendor Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Pottery Addition volunteer fire department, located at 448 Kingsdale Road.
Dozens of vendors will be in attendance, according to organizers. A 50/50 drawing will take place and food will be available for purchase.
The event will take place rain or shine, officials stated.

Grandparents' support group offered
WELLSBURG -- A new support group for grandparents and others who have found themselves raising children in their families, will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at Wellsburg First Presbyterian Church on Ninth Street.
The church will provide child care for the adults, who may share frustrations, concerns and advice through the informal group, which will be led by the Rev. Mary Jane Knapp.
Library to screen film

Church to hold holiday bazaar
WEIRTON -- St. Thomas Episcopal Church, located on Three Springs Drive, will hold its annual holiday bazaar from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 18. Soup and sandwiches will be sold, a bake sale will be held and crafts will be available to purchase, organizers stated.
Soups can be purchased by the pint or quart and will include bean and ham, vegetable, wedding and broccoli and cheese. Sandwiches include sloppy joes, barbecued ham and chicken salad. Food will be available as wither dine-in or take-out.
To place an order, contact the church no earlier than Nov. 16 at (304) 723-4120. Officials said when calling, leave a name and number for someone to get back with the order.
Christmas and Holiday Sale
STEUBENVILLE -- Rosemont Chapel, located at the corner of Williams Boulevard and Goulds Road, will be holding its annual Christmas and Holiday Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 18. The sale will feature a variety of miscellaneous lights, trees, decorations and other household items. Hot sandwiches and home-baked goods will be available for purchase.
Pets can get photo with Santa
WINTERSVILLE -- The Jefferson County Humane Society's "Pet Photos with Santa" event will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 19.
Located at 200 Airpark Drive in Wintersville, the humane society offers high-quality prints done by pet-photography professionals. All friendly pets, children, families, fur-families, feathered friends and everyone in-between, are welcome, organizers stated.
From guinea pigs, hamsters, goats, small dogs, large dogs and scared dogs, to cats and kittens of all shapes and sizes, animals from throughout the Tri-State Area have had their photo taken with this Santa, those at the humane society said.
"Let us know ahead of time if your pet requires a little extra time to warm up to new friends, so we can help each friend feel safe and a have a lasting, positive experience," they conveyed. A 5-by-7 print is $12 or get a 5-by-7 print and the digital image for $22.
Morningstar celebrating 104 years
WEIRTON -- The Morning Star Baptist Church, located at 3124 Weir Ave., will celebrate its 104th church anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 19.
The Rev. Melvin Rippy from the Friendship Baptist Church in Washington, Pa., along with his congregation, will be the guests at the afternoon's service.
Book club to meet
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library Book Club will meet in person and virtually at 5 p.m. Nov. 30 to discuss John Green's "Turtles All the Way Down."
