School house museum's fall fest
STEUBENVILLE -- The Pleasant Hill School House Historical Museum will hold its fall festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Four Seasons Community Center, located at 129 School St.
The event will feature crafters and vendors selling a variety of merchandise. Food will be available for purchase, including soups, sandwiches, baked goods and refreshments.
International senior club meets
WEIRTON -- The International Senior Club held its October meeting at Undo's, where Vice President Tony LaRosa began with a prayer and reminder to recognize the beauty of fall and the changing of seasons.
Gabriel Arlia led in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the singing of, "God Bless America." A sit-down dinner and dessert preceded the meeting. President Regina Truax then welcomed those in attendance, and guest Bob DeFonzo. A moment of silence was held for Mary Lou Rossi, who recently died.
Secretary Rita Orler read the minutes, which were approved. The treasurer's report was given by Norma Henson. The report was approved and filed for audit. Truax thanked those who will serve as phone callers, including Patty Beltrame, who has joined as a new callers. She reminded seniors next year's dues can be paid at the November or December meeting.
The club sang happy anniversary and happy birthday to those celebrating in October. Barbara Purks sent sympathy and thinking-of-you cards to members.
The joke of the day was read by Liz Beecroft.
The following bus tours were announced: Oglebay Festival of Lights, Wheeling, Nov. 17; "A Motown Christmas Show," Capitol Theater, Wheeling, Dec. 2; Rock and Roll Doo Wop 24, Capitol Theater, Wheeling, March 9; "Footloose, the Musical," Lincoln Park Performing Art Center, Midland, Pa., May 5; "Daniel," Sight and Sound Theater, Lancaster, Pa., May 29-31; and the Ark Encounter, Northern Kentucky, along with the Creation Museum, Cincinnati, June 12-14. The 50/50 drawing was won by Mary Salatino. Undo's gift certificates were won by LaRosa and Dino Rossi. Gift cards were won by Barb Guglielmo and Norma Henson. Members played a card game, with six prizes awarded per table.
