Holiday food sale pickup
WEIRTON -- The women of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church are continuing to sell six frozen, uncooked cabbage rolls at the cost of $20 or a dozen frozen, uncooked potato pierogies for $12, as part of their holiday food sale.
Sponsored by members of the church, the sale will run until Friday. To place an order, call (304) 479-0196.
The pickup date is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at the St. Nicholas Fellowship Hall, located across from Weirton Medical Center at 604 Colliers Way.
Yoga with cats
NEW CUMBERLAND -- The Hancock County Humane Foundation, located at 241 Ohio River Blvd. in New Cumberland, will hold an hour-long session of gentle yoga with its adoptable cats and kittens. The class begins at noon on Saturday and is beginner- and child-friendly.
Officials explained participants will do relaxing stretches while the cats mingle on the mats.
Those attending are asked to arrive early in order to get settled into a spot. Participants who have a yoga mat are asked to bring it with them.
Beverages will be available following the class while guests play with their kitties. The class rate is $25, officials said. All proceeds will go toward the Hancock County Humane Foundation for the care of cats.

Breakfast to support center
UNIONPORT -- The Wayne Township Community Center will hold a community breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the center. The meal will consist of pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast and sausage gravy and biscuit. There is no charge, but the community center will accept donations, as proceeds go to benefit the upkeep of the center, officials said.
Church to recognize holidays
WEIRTON -- The Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly will honor heroes at 1 p.m. Sunday in recognition of Veterans Day, as officials commented those gathered will "show appreciation to the men and women who have made it their job to save lives and help others."
Located at 3000 Weir Ave, the Rev. D.W. Cummings will officiate the service.

Free hunter education class
CHESTER-- The Chester and Newell sportsmen club is sponsoring a free hunter education safety class from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. A light lunch and snacks will be provided.
The course is accepted in all 50 states and Canada, officials noted.

West Virginia at Gettysburg
WHEELING -- Pete Chacalos will be presenting a lecture about West Virginia at Gettysburg at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Ohio County Public Library auditorium. The presenter will discuss the actions of the West Virginia regiments' movements and actions during the Gettysburg Campaign in 1863, according to officials.
Chacalos will shed light on the seventh West Virginia infantry and Battery C and the first West Virginia artillery at Pierpont Battery. The seventh West Virginia infantry was commanded at Gettysburg by Moundsville's Jonathan H. Lockwood. West Virginia units were engaged at the Battles of Brandy Station, Second Winchester, Hanover and Monterey Pass.

Richmond Historical Society to meet
RICHMOND -- The Richmond Community Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Richmond Methodist Church Fellowship Hall to finalize plans for its annual Christmas dinner.
The holiday event will be held at the church at 6 p.m. Dec. 8. The meal will be catered by Countryside Catering, with the historical society providing desserts and drinks.

Led By Mercy to perform
WEIRTON -- The Christian music band, Led By Mercy, will host a free Thanksgiving benefit concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at Free Gift Baptist Church, located at 2416 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton.
The concert will feature contemporary Christian music and traditional hymns. Refreshments will be served.
Those wishing to attend are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or monetary donation, which will be provided to the needy for Thanksgiving and beyond, the group noted.
