Church to hold cookie walk

WEIRTON -- St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Three Springs Drive in Weirton will hold a cookie walk from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday or until all the cookies have been distributed.

The church will be selling hot cocoa at its cocoa bar.

Girl Scouts representative Maria Sikora, along with Troop 51418 of Weirton, are performing this walk as a service to the church.

All money raised will help the church to replace bricks in its memorial garden, officials said.

Senior center to hold dance

WEIRTON-- The Weirton Senior Center, located at 3425 Main St., is continuing to hold its monthly dances. These dances are open to the public.

In addition to a disc jockey playing favorite musical selections, the event offers the opportunity to dance, enjoy a meal, take part in drawings and enjoy the friendships made with other patrons at the center.

The center's next get-together will be a Christmas dance, officials stated. The celebration will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 7.

Those attending will have the opportunity to participate in a Chinese auction, where prizes will include gift cards to local businesses.

The cost for a ticket will be $1 each, six for $5 or 15 for $10. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a covered dish to share with other guests.

PERI sets Christmas meeting

STEUBENVILLE -- Members of the Public Employees Retirement Inc.'s Jefferson County Chapter met Nov. 8 at Froehlich's Classic Corner.

The guest speaker for the afternoon was Joe Maddalon from the Association Member Benefits Advisers. Maddalon discussed benefits which the organization provided for PERI members.

Officials noted the December Christmas luncheon will be held at Froehlich's during the group's regular meeting time of 11 a.m. Dec. 13 in the Fiesta Room. This year, Christmas donations will go to the Shop with a Cop program and to the Friendship Room.

Holy Trinity free dinner

STEUBENVILLE -- Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church will hold its 13th-annual free Christmas Day Memorial Dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 25 at the church, located at 300 S. Fourth St.

Dinner will be dine-in only. There will be no carry-out or call-in orders.

Ron Retzer Christmas concert

TORONTO -- The Island Creek Mariners of the Hill Top United Presbyterian Church in Toronto will host the Ron Retzer Trio Christmas Concert at 2 p.m. Dec. 17.

The concert will be held at the Hill Top Church, located at 110 county Road 46.

Refreshments and fellowship will follow the concert.
