RICHMOND -- The Edison High School FFA will be hosting its sixth-annual Veterans Day Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday in the high school cafeteria.
FFA Adviser Chuck Cline, along with VoAG instructor Kristen Truex, explained students will be serving the free, honorary breakfast to any veteran and their family interested in attending.
In years past, the event has seen between 50 and 100 people attend.
FFA members are hoping to have a large turnout this year.
The meal will consist of pancakes, biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage and drinks.
Cline stated it is important for all of us to remember and honor our military heroes, and this is one small way the district is able to take the opportunity to say "thank you," to the servicemen and women who have fought to protect us all.
While the breakfast is free for veterans and their families, anyone wanting to donate, can do so, officials said, noting proceeds will go toward supporting the Wounded Warrior Project.
The evening prior to the breakfast, a student cornhole tournament will be held.
This fundraising event will raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project, Cline commented.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. Friday in the junior-high gymnasium for those wanting to participate.
The tournament is open to all area students. The cost is $10 for each team of two. Refreshments will be provided, Cline said.
