WEIRTON -- The International Honorary Organization for Women Educators of the Alpha Delta Kappa's Fidelis Gamma Chapter, met at Weirton's Eat'n Park Oct. 5.
The 16 members in attendance entered the room and enjoyed candy and candles while being welcomed by Treasurer Carolyn Allison. The "thought for the day" was given by Chaplain Bonnie Queses.
Queses gave a tribute, read, "The Best on Earth, a Veteran," recited a Thanksgiving day prayer and then said a blessing. Ruth Fuller read the minutes, which were approved.
Allison provided the financial report. She shared information about the birthday fund and on the Fidelis Gamma two-year budget for conventions and conferences.
Altruistic Chairman Margo Polk provided a form to record monetary, non-monetary and service volunteer hours.
To celebrate Alpha Delta Kappa Month, Committee Chairman Shirley Washam presented library books to four schools in the Follansbee School District, including, Brooke Primary South, Brooke Intermediate South, Brooke Primary North and Brooke Intermediate North schools.
Allison and Fuller shared information from the Ohio Valley district's fall luncheon, hosted by Alpha Tau on Oct. 28 at Scaffidi"s Restaurant. They discussed the Alpha Delta Kappa state convention, scheduled to be held April 19-21 at Oglebay Park.
Allison and Fuller presented 550 Christmas card fronts to the math teacher at Oak Glen Middle School where students will create Christmas ornaments using geometry skills.
President Diane Higgins shared information on the upcoming Tri-Chapter Christmas brunch, which includes Alpha Tau, Alpha Kappa and Fidelis Gamma chapters. The brunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 9 at Scaffidi's Restaurant. Reservations should be made by Nov. 27. Registration begins at 11 a.m.
