MLK prayer breakfast set for Saturday

OFFICERS PREPARE FOR MLK EVENT — The Martin Luther King Jr. Association of Steubenville will present its annual prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Sycamore Youth Center. STEUBENVILLE -- The Martin Luther King Jr. Association of Steubenville will present its annual prayer breakfast, with the theme being "Living the Dream, It Starts with Me."

Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Sycamore Youth Center, located at 301 N. Fourth St.

Breakfast will be provided by the Soulful Spoon Diner. The cost will be $15.

Participants include area ministers and community leaders, according to organizers.

The Rev. Mark Boyd Sr. will serve as guest speaker and music will be performed by David Boyd. Both men are from the Greater Zion Temple Family Worship Center.

Boyd has been ministering since the age of 5, according to officials, who stated he was baptized and "filled with the Holy Ghost" at the early age. His parents began using him to minister through song at council sessions, religious conferences and church events.

In 1992, Boyd went into preaching ministry and has been faithfully speaking for God ever since, it was stated. He served as a leader and pastor at a congregation in Old Hickory, Tenn., and as of March, served in the pastoral ministry for 20 years.

He is a third-generation pastor and preacher of the gospel who has come up through the ranks of Pentecost.

Boyd and his family moved from Texas and joined forces with the Ohio District Council of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, officials concluded.
