TORONTO -- The Nov. 10 meeting of the Toronto Sunrise Seniors at the Karaffa Recreation Complex was called to order by president, Barbara Pritts. Gloria Boley gave the blessing for the meal featuring turkey, stuffing, and all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner.
Veterans were honored with applause and the opportunity to be first in line for the buffet.
Following dinner, members recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The kitchen committee was thanked for its efforts in preparing the Thanksgiving meal and table decorations. The committee consisted of Boley, Jerry Cornish, Dave Naukam and Darlene Naukam.
Secretary Laura Sheets read the minutes and conducted roll call.
Treasurer Judy Sabol gave the financial report, which was filed for audit.
Social Secretary Marlene Garrett recognized three individuals with November birthdays.
Pritts announced the only meeting in December will be the Christmas celebration, scheduled to take place Dec. 1 in the commons area of the complex.
Ruth White, Tracey Wade and Diana Hooper will be hostesses for the event, which requires making a reservation.
Vice President Sandi Radvansky distributed the kitchen committee assignments for 2024.
Pritts thanked those who donated food items for the Toronto Helping Hands food pantry. Four boxes of nonperishable food items and money were donated to the pantry, she said.
Boley was recognized as the member of the month.
Members participated in a Thanksgiving trivia game. Winners were Marsha McConnell and Dave Trudick.
White and Ken Emery were the winners of the 50/50 drawing.
Following time set aside for bragging and announcements, Pritts ended the meeting with a Thanksgiving joke.
The meeting was adjourned and the members played bingo afterward. Winners included Brenda Fetty, Rex Mossor, Lucy Timko, Alice DeFrank, McConnell, Bea Lytle, Mary Lou Emery, Ethyl Stevens, Sabol and Joyce Gribben.
