TORONTO -- President Judy Bickler called the monthly meeting of the Toronto Seniors to order, welcoming members to the decorated, Thanksgiving-themed meeting at Karaffa Recreation Center.
All of the clulb's veterans were honored for their service.
A reminder was announced to all members that the December meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 15 at the center. Members were asked to bring in a dozen cookies when they arrive.
The group distributed 35 gift donations, with Bickler stating, "We think they are some of the most generous people in Jeferson County. God bless all of them."
Thanks were given to Linda and John Livingstone and Vicky and Ed Zeigler who delivered the toys to the Toronto Police Department. There were three carloads of toys donated by members. Others who were thanked for their contribution to the group included, Joyce Zimmerman, for taking the secretarial notes; Patty Smith, for her work at being the treasurer; and to the kitchen committee which consisted of Carole Eddy, Joyce Dobbs, Marlene Dunn, Dorothy Farrister, Mary Ann Whalen, Sally Wilson and Barry Wilson.
Mary Alice Meyer led the group in a prayer of thanks and the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. Social Secretary Peggy Ziarko named members who celebrated November birthdays and anniversaries.
The treasurer's report was given by Smith, who noted dinner checks are to be mailed to her by the first week of the month.
Those who won bingo were, Dobbs, first game; Linda Livingstone, second game; Rose Mary Pritchard, third game; and Elizabeth Shipe, Dobbs and Mary Lou Sutton, fourth game. The 50/50 drawing was won by Linda Caputo. The big basket drawing was won by Smith. Bobby Koltz won the door prize.
It was announced the group is sponsoring a trip to Lancaster, Pa., to the Site and Sounds Theater. A performace of "Daniel," will be viewed, along with a trip to the Dutch Apple Theater to see "Ragtime," and a train ride. The trip will take place from April 10-12.
