Weir High to perform the show, “Dracula”

WEIRTON -- The Weir High drama club will be performing "Dracula," at 7 p.m. Nov. 17-18 and 2 p.m. Nov. 19. Doors will open to the public a half-hour prior to the performance start times. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Corey Miller, language arts teacher and theater director, will be helming the production. He is assisted by student and stage manger, Emma Underwood.

"Dracula" was written by Jeff Bengford and is being presented by an arrangement with the playwright.

The show is about Lucy Seward, who comes down with a mysterious illness. Her father, Dr. Seward, calls upon a specialist in rare diseases, Abraham Van Helsing, for help.

All signs now point to a mysterious new neighbor from Transylvania, Count Dracula.

The count, increasing his legions of the undead, desires to turn Seward into the queen of all vampires. Van Helsing must use everything at his disposal to hunt down and stop this prince of darkness.

Will the forces of good triumph? Or will she succumb to Dracula's spell?

The show stars Eve Swearingen as Lucy Seward, Caden Runkle as Dracula and Max Bilodeau as Van Helsing.

Additional principal cast members are, Leila Schwer, Vira Seward; Maddy Kingston, Dr. Seward; Mackenzie Stear, Dr. Von Prague; Ian Rogers, Renfield; Levi Anderson, Jonathan Harker; Gracie Beagle, Kate Mitchell; and Logan Wagner, Jameson.

Appearing in supporting roles are Elana Kniszek, Rosa the Cook; Megan Brinkley, Sophia the Maid; and Kylie Gianni, Mina Westrena.

Crew members Jacob Anthony and Caleb Sealock will be handling the production's lights and sounds. Officials noted those planning to bring a younger audience member should know the show uses non-toxic, water-based fog, flashing lights and features mild language.
