UMWA meeting set for Feb. 3
HOPEDALE -- The United Mine Workers of America, Local 1304, will hold a regular meeting at the Hopedale American Legion in Hopedale on Feb. 3. Breakfast will be served at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.
Take Your Child to the Library Day
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library will celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day on Feb. 3, with a variety of activities from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Visitors to the library's River Room will find stations with crafts, coloring, Legos and other science, technology, engineering, art and math-related activities. Children can try using a 3-D pen in the Tutor Room, play with toys and games in the Children's Room or watch a movie in the Elmer Vincent Meeting Room. There will be a special book display in the Art Gallery and a free book and bookmark for each young visitor. Those who haven't been to the library in a while are encouraged to stop by and see the wide range of materials available. For information, call (304) 737-1551.
Senior fitness classes offered
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library is offering Geri-Fit, a 45-minute strength training class for older adults. Participants start lifting light weights, usually while seated and can work at their own pace. They should bring a set of light dumbbells, a stretch band and water to drink. The video fitness classes are held from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Follansbee Library, located at 844 Main St., and from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the Brooke County Library, located at 945 Main St.
