Dr. Brian Burke, a family medicine and primary care physician for Trinity Health System, spoke on the issue of unprocessed foods and how they can have manifold health benefits during Thursday's discussion at Leonardo's ballroom. Burke, manager of a homestead in Toronto and co-director for the Healing Land, hosted the presentation on "Real Food as Medicine." The Healing Land is a Jefferson County-based nonprofit, focused on teaching homesteading and farming skills. This was the first in a four-part series that will continue into April. The next discussion will be "How to Build Real Community," and will be presented by Healing Land co-directors, Shawn and Beth Dougherty.
