Gyro sale today
STEUBENVILLE -- Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, located at 300 S. Fourth St., will hold a gyro sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.
Gyros are $9 each. In addition, the church will be selling grapeleaves, three for $3.50; baklava, $3; tyropita, $3.50; melamakarona, $2.50; almond crescent cookies, $2; and koulourakia, one dozen for $8.

Brilliant Legion to hold fish fry
BRILLIANT -- The Brilliant American Legion has resumed weekly fish fries for the Lent season. The Fish Fry season will run from Friday through March 29.
The menu includes a choice of Coleman's Fish, chicken planks, shrimp, wing dings or fish nuggets.
All of the above can be bought as dinners or smaller portion baskets. Dinners come with bread, french fries and coleslaw. Onion rings can be substituted for an additional $1.
Other menu items include hush puppies, mozzarella sticks and hot or mild cheese balls.
The hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Orders can be called in to (740) 598-3515.

February class luncheon
STEUBENVILLE -- The Steubenville High School Class of '59 held its monthly luncheon on Jan. 10 at Froehlich's Classic Corner.
Norina Eroshevich provided the blessing and Barbara Kowalsky assisted Helen Duco in providing the birthday cake for those celebrating a birthday during the month of January.
Officials announced a reminder about the group's upcoming 65th class reunion, which is slated for May 4. Responses have already begun to come in, officials stated.
A Valentine's Day luncheon is planned for 12:30 p.m. Feb. 14 at Froehlich's.

Retro Night at Sycamore
STEUBENVILLE -- A Retro Night dinner concert is planned from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Sycamore Youth Center, located at 301 N. Fourth St. The community is invited to celebrate with family, friends or a valentine.
Chef Lisa Williams will serve a meal featuring chicken, roasted potatoes and a salad.
Winners from the Valley's Got Talent competitions will perform songs from the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s.
The young artists include Bella Thompson, Leila Cable, Connie Brookes, Mary Rankin, Hannah Mergen, Christina Westlake, Nina Holt, Autumn Duckworth, Sam Allison, Anthony Pearce, Nikolas Kline, Emaly Elerick, Shelby Elerick and Elisha Fletcher.
Proceeds will go to support the 500 children who attend the 64 after-school classes and the more-than 10,000 meals given to needy children throughout the community.

Heart health event
FOLLANSBEE -- The Brooke County Family Support Center and Brooke County Senior Center are teaming up to present a Heart Health event.
The health event is scheduled to be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 15 at the senior center, located at 948 Main St.
The event will include activities and advice from a local health coach at the Health Plan.
A chair yoga session will be offered, with the class set to begin at 1:30 p.m. The yoga session will be instructed by those at SoulShine.
Attendees will have the opportunity to create a craft, as well. This activity will be led by the West Virginia University Extension Service.
Senior scramble organizing
EAST SPRINGFIELD -- Officials at the Spring Hills Golf Course in East Springfield are organizing a weekly senior scramble for men and women who are 50 years of age and older.
The scrambles will begin on the first Wednesday in April and will be held thereafter on the first Wednesday of the month.
A tee time of 10 a.m. has initially been set.

Team trivia contest
STEUBENVILLE -- The Kiwanis Club of Steubenville will be holding its 12th-annual Team Trivia Competition at 6 p.m. March 9 in the Steubenville High School commons area.
The cost is $120 per team, with a maximum of 10 people per team, according to Kiwanian Tom Timmons.
Attendees are permitted to bring their own snacks to eat while participating in the contest.
A 50/50 drawing and Chinese auction will take place during the evening, officials said.
Teams will compete for cash prizes, along with bragging rights.
