Lenten fish fry, Friday
WELLSVILLE-- The Wellsville Sons of Italy Lodge No. 657 will hold a fish fry from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday. The lodge is located off the Third Street exit at 327 Main St.
Shriners to hold pancake breakfast
WEIRTON -- The Northern Panhandle Shrine Club will hold a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. The club is located at 1221 Rice Blvd. in Weirton. The building is at the end of Cove Road next to the state highway garage.
The event is open to the public and will feature all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs and sausage. Drinks available include coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate and orange juice. The cost is $7 for adults, $6 for children 6 to 12 and free for those under 6.
Church taking Easter orders
WHEELING -- Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, located at 4136 Jacob St. in Wheeling, is taking orders for pierogi and cabbage rolls for Easter. The last day to order is March 15. To place an order, call (304) 232-1777 or (304) 232-2168 and leave your name, phone number and order on the answering machine.
Pierogi are $7 a dozen. Options include potato and cheese, potato and onion and sauerkraut. Cabbage rolls are $2.50 each. The last day for pickup is March 21.
Black History Month at museum
WEIRTON -- To celebrate Black History Month, the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center will feature a display of famous Black Americans. These individuals were involved in politics, sports and music. Little-known historical facts, as well as past or local leaders from the Weirton community will be displayed throughout the month of February.
The museum, located at 3149 Main St. in Weirton, is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
The exhibit is free to the public, with donations being accepted.
Foster parent training
STEUBENVILLE - The Jefferson County Department of Job and Family Services, Children Services Division, will be offering foster care pre-placement classes for people interested in becoming foster or foster-to-adopt parents.
The classes will be held March 9, March 10, March 23 and March 24 at the Schiappa Memorial Library, located at 4141 Mall Drive. There is no cost to attend the training but pre-registration is required. To register, call Susan Young at (740) 282-0961 ext. 1225 or Tracey Dailey at ext. 1244.
Information offered to grandparents
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Family Support Center invites grandparents raising or caring for their grandchildren to attend a program from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the former Wellsburg Middle School, located at 1447 Main St. Effective discipline, safety tips and developing a positive relationship with children will be discussed.

Democratic meeting to be held
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Democratic Executive Committee and the Brooke County Democratic Women will hold their meeting at 5:30 p.m. March 14 at the Brooke County Library in Wellsburg. All Democrats and Democratic candidates are welcome to attend.
Class of '59 reunion
STEUBENVILLE -- Steubenville High School's Class of 1959 will hold its 65th class reunion at 5 p.m. May 4 at Scaffidi's Restaurant and Tavern.
Chairman Pete Barren announced the event will include a cocktail hour at 5 p.m., a class photo and dinner. Attire is casual.

Brilliant Lions hold meeting
BRILLIANT -- The Brilliant Lions Club met for its February meeting, with Butch Ford presiding.
Ford announced the Ohio Lions OH3 District Convention will be held April 19-20, with meetings held at the Greystone Event Center, located on 50 Riffel Road in Wooster.
Lamont and Esther McCoy are club representatives. Al Brandel and Maureen Murphy of Melville, N.Y. will attend as guests.
The club is collecting men's, women's and children's socks. Donations will be taken to the convention, where they will be distributed to a worthy cause. Non-members of the club can contact a Lion to donate. Every Lions Club is being asked to bring an item or gift basket for a drawing.
Lions noted its upcoming pulled-pork fundraiser. Take-out dinners will be served from noon to 2 p.m. April 14 in the Brilliant Community Center parking lot. The cost is $13. Lion John Goosman is overseeing the distribution of tickets to members, who will have them available for those interested.
Ticket drawing winners included, Susan Noland, Ron Retzer and Goosman.
The next meeting of the Brilliant Lions Club will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 7.
