Soup and sweet sale
MINGO JUNCTION -- Harmony Church of Mingo Junction will hold a soup and sweet sale from noon to 1 p.m. March 9. The church is located at 2119 Commercial St.
Quarts of either vegetable or bean soup will be available for pickup during that hour.

Church women to hold meeting
WEIRTON -- Members of Church Women United are preparing to hold their first meeting of the year.
Scheduled to take place on the World Day of Prayer, the meeting will take place at 11 a.m. March 1 at Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly Church on Weir Avenue. The theme will be "Bringing the world to Jesus, one person at a time."
A luncheon will follow the meeting.
Buckeye Local to hold registration
DILLONVALE -- The Buckeye Local School District has announced its upcoming registration dates for those entering preschool and kindergarten for the 2024-25 term.
Parents and guardians can enroll the pupils from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 18 at Buckeye North Elementary School in Brilliant; from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 19 at Buckeye South Elementary School in Tiltonsville; or 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 19 at Buckeye West Elementary School in Adena.
Officials stated documents necessary to bring to the registration include, a birth certificate, immunization records and proof of income, such as the last two paystubs from employment or a 2023 W-2 form.

Senior center to hold bake sale
WEIRTON -- Organizers at the Weirton Senior Center, located at 3425 Main St., announced they will hold a combination bake sale and rummage sale for interested residents. In addition, books and puzzles will be available for purchase. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 28 at the center.
Senior center to hold dance
WEIRTON -- Officials at the Weirton Senior Center, located at 3425 Main St., have announced they are preparing to begin their monthly dances for the year. These dances are open to the public and cost $5 to attend.
The first dance will take place from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. April 4 at the center. Jack Thomas will perform favorite musical selections. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish.
In addition to dancing, these events provide the opportunity to enjoy a meal, take part in drawings and enjoy the friendships made with other patrons at the center. For information, call (304) 748-3490.
St. Anthony all-school reunion
FOLLANSBEE -- St. Anthony High School's all-school reunion has been scheduled for June 22.
A Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated at 4 p.m. at St. Anthony's Church. A banquet will follow at 6 p.m. at the St. Francis Center, located on Hooverson Heights.
While the reunion is intended for all students who attended or graduated from the former St. Anthony grade schools and high schools, the event will honor the Class of '64.
The Class of '64, which will celebrate its 60th anniversary at the event, was the final class to graduate from St. Anthony High School.
Guests are permitted to accompany all of the former students attending.
Special memorial ceremonies, along with tributes, have been planned for the event. Those being remembered include those from the Sisters of the Poor Child Jesus of Holland -- who staffed both schools, as well as any class members who have died.

4-H clubs hold meetings
WINTERSVILLE -- The Wildwood Critter 4-H Club held its first meeting of the year Jan. 14. The meeting was called to order and began with the reciting of the pledges. Roll call indicated six members were present.
The treasurer's report was given, followed by discussions of several pieces of new business. Online enrollment, quality assurance, a winter update, community services, window decorating and fundraising were discussed by those in attendance.
The club will be donating needed items to the women's shelter in Jefferson County. Hanging baskets will be sold for Mother's Day. To order flowers, contact a club member.
There were three young members who attended a 4-H overnighter, officials stated, adding two participants competed in the Iron Chef competition this year.
Officers were elected. They include Amanda Boring, president; Colte Sines, vice president; LeeAnna Horstman, secretary; Blair Allison, treasurer; Brayden McConnell, health and safety officer; and Jaxon Sines, news reporter.
The club's next meeting will be held Sunday.
The Broken Fences 4-H Club held their first meeting of the year Jan. 7.
The meeting welcomed new and returning members, with officials stating everyone is excited for the upcoming year and the activities which will be offered.
The group's overnighter, a window decorating activity in celebration of 4-H week and an Iron Chef competition were a few of the club's events.
Members discussed projects and community service options.
