Gnocchi demonstration makes for a good meeting

STEUBENVILLE -- Members of the Alpha Delta Teachers Sorority's Beta Alpha Chapter met Feb. 6 at Malara Hall. Chapter President Linda Lenzi welcomed those in attendance. Hostesses were Dorie Mallas and Erin DeSantis.
Club member Michelle Fabbro demonstrated how to make gnocchi -- an Italian-type pasta, using her mother's recipe. She offered the group some cooked gnocchi and tomato sauce she had made and provided a copy of the recipe to each member.
Chaplain Pam Fithen read for members and guests, "A Valentine Day Prayer." Guest Sheila Kendrick, a fourth-grade teacher from Weirton, was introduced by Mallas.
Secretary Joyce Cammilletti read thank-you notes the chapter received, one from the Urban Mission and the other from Wintersville Good Neighbors.
Minutes from the previous meeting were approved, along with the treasurer's report.
The meeting continued with a collection taken for the ALIVE shelter, followed by a listing of volunteer hours available for Altruistic Chairman Kathy Henry.
The members decided to sponsor a Paint and Sip during the April meeting. The location of the event will be announced at the March meeting.
New officers will be installed during the chapter's May meeting and picnic, scheduled to be held May 14 at the Unionport shelter house. All officers have been appointed with the exception of the president-elect, it was noted.
A decision was made to once again sell mums during the fall. In addition, it was agreed to raise the amount of the scholarship that is given by the club. The amount will now be $500.
The ADK International Exchange Student will be sent a $25 gift card from the club, officials said.
Fraternity education chairman Joyce Cammilletti presented a 25-question quiz to those gathered, with the top three members receiving a prize.
The next meeting will take place March 5 at Malara Hall.
