Keeley Johnson, an eighth-grade pupil at Indian Creek Middle School, placed first in the Indian Creek Local School District Spelling Bee held Tuesday at Indian Creek Middle School. Top finishers included David Reaume, a fifth-grader at Indian Creek Middle School, second; Matilda Bartley, a sixth-grader at Indian Creek Middle School, third; Kaden Haddox, a fifth-grader at Indian Creek Middle School, fourth; Avery Peckins, a fifth-grader at Indian Creek Middle School, fifth; and Cru Roe, a sixth-grader at Indian Creek Middle School, alternate. Taking part in the awards ceremony were, from left, front, Reaume, Johnson and Haddox; and back, ICMS Principal Holly Minch-Hick; Roe, Bartley, Peckins and ICMS Assistant Principal Scott Abercrombie. The top five spellers and alternate will advance to the Jefferson-Harrison Regional Spelling Bee, presented by the Herald-Star, at 11 a.m. March 9 at Buckeye North Elementary School in Brilliant.
