New season of Cloak and Dagger On the Air

WEIRTON -- Cloak and Dagger On the Air will launch its seventh season with an episode entitled, "Another Leap in Time," at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau, located at 3539 Main St.

Pete Fernbaugh, executive producer and head writer for Cloak and Dagger On the Air, explained "Leap in Time," was an episode which aired four years ago, in 2020 -- prior to the area being on lockdown stemming from COVID.

"It was a leap year and seemed like a fun idea to do three time travel stories," Fernbaugh stated. "Now that we're in another leap year, we thought we'd revisit the concept. Hopefully, this leap year will go differently than the last one."

The three stories will be: "A Gun for Dinosaur," by L. Sprague de Camp, adapted by Ernest Kinoy, in which big-game hunters use a time machine to travel back to the Mesozoic Era to track and kill dinosaurs; "Mars Is Heaven," by Ray Bradbury, adapted by Ernest Kinoy, where a space expedition to Mars is shocked to find their loved ones waiting for them when they land; and "A Time to Be Born and a Time to Die," by Wyllis Cooper, which tells the story of a man's life from youth to adulthood and the decisions that shape his destiny.

The mix will include the latest installment of Emily Penelope's "Fabulous Flights of Fancy," by Fernbaugh.

"Each story confronts the philosophy of time in a unique way," he said. "In 'A Gun for Dinosaur,' we see how man is keen on using time travel for his own indulgent ends. 'Mars Is Heaven,' looks at our nostalgia for the past and our anticipation of being reunited with it in the future. And 'A Time to Be Born, A Time to Die,' takes Solomon's ancient writings and transfers its context to modern times. What are the decisions we make every day that shape how time steers our lives?"

Beginning at 3:30 p.m., Troubadour R.J. Gaudio will provide a warm-up acoustic set, performing pop, rock and folk music favorites. The program will livestream from the Ohio Valley Cloak and Dagger Company Facebook page at 3:30 p.m.

"Another Leap in Time," stars the Wayward Saints, which includes. Rob DeSantis, Bethany Fernbaugh, Nancy Longo, Karissa Martin, Ralph Parissi, Abby Perry, Terri Perry, Maura Danielle Reiff and George Spelvin. Roberta Fedoush will provide the score and the Holy Foley Molies create the sound effects.

Admission to "Another Leap in Time," is free, although donations help to cover production costs and are appreciated, officials noted. Light refreshments and water will be available.

Individuals with mobility impairments can enter through the building's front entrance. Members of the troupe will assist these individuals, officials said.

This show is a monthly theatrical series from the Ohio Valley Cloak and Dagger Company that celebrates audio drama from all eras -- particularly the fabled Golden Age of Radio. By reimagining classic radio dramas and literary works, along with original stories written and produced by independent writer and actor Fernbaugh, Cloak and Dagger On the Air strives to give audiences an immersive experience that engages the theater of their imagination in creating a fully-realized storytelling adventure.
