By Staff reports 1 min read

RICHMOND -- Music and moneymaking are on tap in the coming weeks to benefit Edison High School's music program. The Edison Local High School band will perform its winter concert at 7 p.m. today in the school's auditorium.

Band Director Marc Sansone said the concert band will perform selections from "The Dark Knight," and "The Nightmare Before Christmas," to "Blue Ridge Saga." The performance will highlight some of the soloists from the Ohio Music Education Association's Solo and Ensemble. "This is a free concert but we are accepting donations," Sansone stated. "Any monies collected will benefit our scholarship fund."

Meanwhile, organizers are gearing up for the annual Sportsman's Bash. The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Saline Township Complex, located at 164 county Highway 50 in Hammondsville. Doors will open at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20 and will be available at the door. The cost includes dinner and admittance to the bash, which will feature dozens of drawings. There is more than $10,000 worth of prizes that will be up for grabs, according to organizers. Sansone said proceeds will help the band with operating expenses.
