Nearly 400 pupils from East Garfield Elementary School capped off Read Across America Week, celebrated from March 4-8, with a dance party. The week included dress-up days and activities based upon books they had read, including wearing their favorite colors for the story "The Day the Crayons Quit," donning black and white for the book "Click, Clack, Moo" and dressing in animal prints or mismatched clothes and dancing in the gym for "The Giraffe Can't Dance." Teachers held other activities in their classrooms, while separate dances were held for different grade levels. Among those taking part in the final day activities were, from left, kindergartener Marcus Manley-Reed, kindergartener A'Rayah Dent, preschooler Princeton Dent and kindergartener Owen Black.
