TORONTO -- Toronto Senior Citizens Club met for the first time this year, with Emma Spicer opening the St. Patrick's Day-themed meeting.
Club members who made up the kitchen committee this month were thanked for their help in preparing the meal.
Arlene Obertance led the group in a prayer of thanks and the Pledge of Allegiance. The treasurer's report was given by Patty Smith. Secretary Peggy Miller reported on the December meeting.
Peggy Ziarko sent cards to members needing get-well wishes. Members in attendance sang for those with birthdays and anniversaries in March. Bob and Arlene Zahniser were recognized for celebrating 68 years together. The club noted a letter has been sent to city council regarding money for the club.
Officials announced a trip to Lancaster has been planned for April 10-12. Those attending will see a production of "Ragtime the Musical" at the Sight and Sound Theater. A tour-guided trip to the Amish countryside will take place at a date to be announced.
Dinner checks are to be mailed to Smith by the first week of the month.
The election of officers will be held April 18. Anyone interested in becoming an officer should contact Spicer.
Bingo winners included, Spicer, first game; Dolly Robinson and Karen Steigerwald, second game; Glenda Matheson, third game; and Spicer and Laura Mamula, fourth game. The 50/50 drawing was won by JoAnn Lewellyn; the big basket was won by Laura Van Dyke; and the door prize was won by Metheson.
Obertance read a piece in honor of St. Patrick's Day and the meeting adjourned.
