Libraries to close early
The Brooke County Public Library in Wellsburg, along with its Follansbee branch, will close early Tuesday in order to hold staff development and training. The Wellsburg library will close at 4 p.m. and the Follansbee library will close at 3:45 p.m.
Church Women United to meet
WEIRTON -- Church Women United will hold its Friendship Day meeting at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland Presbyterian Church, located at 34 Swearingen Road in Weirton. A luncheon will be held following the meeting. The luncheon is provided by the Oakland Presbyterian Church Women.
Craft class offered for adults
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library will hold a craft class involving a cupcake gift box at 11 a.m. on Thursday. The class is for adults only. Participants are asked to bring a glue gun. All other materials will be provided.

Evening story hour set
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library will hold an Explore and Learn story hour, led by Kim Harless, at 5 p.m. Thursday. The event will include hands-on activities. Reservations for the free program should be made by calling (304) 737-1551 or online at brookecountylibs.org/events.
Church to hold indoor garage sale
STEUBENVILLE -- The Buena Vista United Methodist Church, located on Kingston Avenue, will be holding a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4.
Officials stated there will be arts, crafts and much more, including a soup and sandwich sale. Foods being offered include hot dogs, sloppy joes, chicken noodle soup and vegetable soup. Libraries to hold Free Comic Book Day
The Brooke County Public Library and its Follansbee branch will celebrate Free Comic Book Day on May 4. Visitors will receive one free comic book per person, while supplies last.
Mount Carmel 25th-anniversary
STEUBENVILLE -- Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church will hold its 25th-anniversary celebration at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on May 5. The Rev. Benjamin Calvert and guest speaker the Rev. Mark Kearse of Cornerstone Baptist Church in York, Pa., will address the congregation. The anniversary theme and scripture will be, "Celebrating Our Faithful Journey."

Senior fitness classes offered
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library is offering Geri-Fit, a 45-minute strength-training class for older adults. Participants begin by lifting light weights while seated and work at their own pace. Attendees should bring a set of light dumbbells, stretch band and drinking water. The video fitness classes are held from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Follansbee Library, located at 844 Main St. Classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the Brooke County Library, located at 945 Main St. Classes are free.
