STEUBENVILLE -- The Funseeker's club held its April meeting at the Breakfast Club where President Cathy DiBenedetto called the meeting to order. Carl Truax said the blessing and led in the pledge to the flag and singing of "God Bless America." Those having a May birthday were recognized, followed by a buffet dinner for the 54 members in attendance.
Members took part in this month's bingo activity where several games were played throughout the evening. Winners included Mary Beth Bauer, Lee Lewis, Dave Velegol and Joyce Dobbs, who won two games.
During the business meeting, the treasury and secretarial reports were read and approved. The group held a discussion concerning summer meeting times, with suggestions being to move the June 5 and July 3 meetings to 5 p.m. rather than 6 p.m. Following a lengthy conversation, a motion was made to move summer meetings to 5 p.m. The motion was amended to allow a review of the earlier time. A voice vote approved the change for June and July.
DiBenedetto reported the Follansbee Shelter House has been reserved for the annual summer picnic meeting Aug. 11. Details will be announced as plans are finalized, it was noted.
Tour director Regina Truax reviewed the upcoming tours and trips Funseeker's have the opportunity to take, adding these events are also open to the public. Trips include: The Pittsburgh Pirates home game, $10 food ticket, June 9; Donnie Osmond, Wheeling Capitol Theater, June 18; Sugarcreek bus trip, June 21; "Titanic," Lincoln Park, dinner at Connie's Corner, June 30; Hartville bus trip, July 26; Beach Boys, Wheeling Capitol Theater, dinner at Mehlman's, Sept. 21; Rock and Roll DooWop, Wheeling Capitol Theater, Oct. 5; and Nashville Country Christmas, three nights at Gaylord Opryland Hotel, Riverboat cruise, shows, meals, Dec. 1-4. Club members Rose Chappano, Roberta Antinone and Donna Balzano awarded the door prizes. Recipients of the May door prizes were: Mary Margaret Klepadlo, Deanne Starr, Marlene Dunn, Jean Dalfonso, Gene Viola, Ray Dalfonso, Phyllis Riapos, Elizabeth Ships, Valerie Rowland and Mike Rowland. June door prizes will be given by Chuck and Joann Bugin. The 50/50 drawing was won by Antinone.
The next meeting will begin at 5 p.m. June 5 at Undo's in Weirton.
