Libraries closed for holiday
The Brooke County Public Library, along with its Follansbee branch, will be closed Thursday in recognition of Independence Day.
Beatty Park concert canceled
STEUBENVILLE — The Friends of Beatty Park have announced the cancellation of its Fourth of July patriotic concert, scheduled to be held July 6 at the outdoor theater in Beatty Park.
Officials explained the outdoor performance project has yet to be completed. Organizers stated it is their hope to support future concerts and performances in this area as soon as possible, with a projected date being this fall.
Music in the Park at Richmond
RICHMOND — The Richmond Community Historical Society will host Music in the Park at 5 p.m. Sunday at shelter No. 4 in Richmond Park, located on Park Street. Featured performers will be the Tri-State Community Band. The band is an all-volunteer organization made up of approximately 40 musicians of all ages, abilities and walks of life. Its members hail from Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Officials announced attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and enjoy “an evening of great music,” which will include a selection of patriotic songs.
Donations will be accepted and will benefit the Crew House Museum, located on Main Street. Refreshments will be available. Richmond pottery items will be available for purchase. For information, contact Phil Judy, historical society president, at (740) 765-4534.
St. Joseph to hold block party
WEIRTON — St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Weirton will hold its annual block party from noon to 6 p.m. July 28 within the outdoor campus area. The event will include food trucks, a disc jockey, face painting, basket drawings, inflatables and a car cruise. A dunk tank will be set up for patrons enjoyment at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend the block party. Admission is free of charge and plenty of parking will be available.
