New Cumberland Lions receive special visit

LEONARD JARRETT AWARD — During the June meeting of the New Cumberland Lions Club, Past District Gov. Bernice Pitcock, center, presented second vice president Jeanne Cox and Lion Tamer Jim Gillespie with the Leonard Jarrett Award. The club dispensed with the regular meeting and held its induction ceremony, installing new officers for the 2024-25 year. -- Contributed

NEW CUMBERLAND -- Past District Govs. Gary and Bernice Pitcock, along with Zone Chair and Weirton Lions Club President John Porco, were guests of the New Cumberland Lions Club during its June meeting.

Following a prayer by Jeanette Collins, President Pam Stiles called the meeting to order and led in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion was made and passed to dispense with business portion of the meeting, as Bernice Pitcock presented the Leonard Jarrett Award to Jeanne Cox, second vice president and incoming secretary; and Lion tamer Jim Gillespie.

The installation of officers was conducted by Gary Pitcock.

Officers for the 2024-25 year include, Sally Greathouse, president; Cox, first vice president; Cole Young, second vice president; Alan Lee, treasurer; Cox, secretary; Gillespie, Jim Wells and Lee, lion tamers; and Ed Fields, Don Deemer, Bill Greathouse, Joyce Young and Betsy Wells, directors.

Thanks were given to Greathouse, Bill Greathouse, Joyce Young, Cole Young, Jim Wells and Betsy Wells for providing hors d'oeuvres for the evening, and to Peggy Lee for her photography.
