Community center to hold dinner

EAST SPRINGFIELD -- The East Springfield Community Center will hold a fundraising dinner from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the community center, located on state Route 39 next to the firehouse.

Organizers announced this month's meal will consist of a guest favorite, baked steak. In addition to the steak, the meal will include mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, dessert, bread and a beverage. Dinners cost $11 and can be purchased for dine-in or carry out. The event is open to the public, with the proceeds going toward the center. To place a carry out order, call (740) 543-3700.

Dillonvale-Mount Pleasant Library

DILLONVALE -- The Dillonvale-Mount Pleasant Library will hold a worm race for children as part of the Summer Reading Program's wrap party.

The event will be held at 2 p.m. July 23.

The Library will recognize Smokey Bear's birthday, as well. Register to attend the event by calling (740) 314-4310.

Adults will have the opportunity to paint an adventure-themed mug. The mugs are provided by Ready, Aim, Fire Ceramics. The class will begin at 5 p.m. July 22. Call to register.
