Block party takes place today
STEUBENVILLE -- The Aim Women's Center and the Sycamore Youth Center will hold a Summer Block Party from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.
The event will be held at the Aim center, located at 248 N. Fifth St. in Steubenville. The goal is to unite the Steubenville community.
Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served. Guests are welcome to bring their own dishes.
Activities offered include face painting by the Sycamore Corps service group and a foam party provided by Screwy Louie's Party Rentals.
Hip-hop artists J.R. Lawrence Lewis of Steubenville, CBE 180 of Weirton and MoTruth of Pittsburgh, will perform, as well as Jasmine Wooden of Steubenville, a three-time Valley's Got Talent winner who auditioned in the miscellaneous category of mime performances.
"We're excited to co-host this block party with Aim Women's Center, stated Bobbyjon Bauman, executive director of the youth center. "It's a fantastic way for us to engage with the community and show our dedication to enriching the lives of our youth and families."
Community members can either show up for the party or RSVP through Facebook.
St. Joseph to hold chicken dinner
TILTONSVILLE -- St. Joseph Parish in Tiltonsville will hold a chicken dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at St. Joseph Church hall, located at 204 Mound St. in Tiltonsville.
Sponsored by the Holy Name Society, the meal will include a roasted half chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and a roll. The cost will be $12.
Dine in, carryout and curbside pickup will be available. Those who choose curbside pickup will enter the alley behind the parish center and exit by the rectory garage.
Beverages will be sold for $1. Desserts also will be sold. The dinner will feature a 50/50 drawing and basket drawings. Tickets will be $1 each or six for $5. For advance tickets or information, call the parish office at (740) 859-4018.
Leadership conference set
WHEELING -- Greater Love Ministries, Bethlehem Apostolic Temple and Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly will present the 24th-annual Timothy Leadership Conference Aug. 1-3. The event will take place in-person Bethlehem Temple, located at 330 N. Main St. in Wheeling and virtually, officials stated.
A teaching seminar is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 1-2. Worship services will be held at 8 p.m. Aug. 1-2.
Day sessions will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 2. A prayer breakfast will be served at 10 a.m. Aug. 3 as the finale of the event. Registration is required.
Evangelist Teresa High of Dayton will be the keynote speaker at 8 p.m. Aug. 1 and 10 a.m. Aug. 2. Evangelist Krista Tyson of Youngstown will be the keynote speaker at 8 p.m. Aug. 2. Evangelist Monique Davis Williams of Cleveland will be the keynote speaker at 10 a.m. Aug. 3.

Family and Friends Day service
WEIRTON -- A Family and Friends Day will be presented by the Bethlehem Apostolic Temple and the Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly on Aug. 4.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. for Bethlehem in Wheeling; and at 12:30 p.m. for Shiloh, located in Weirton.
Pastors for the celebration will be the Rev. D.W. Cummings and Latisha Cummings. The speaker will be the Rev. Austin Tyree of Springfield, Ohio.
