Weirton Senior Center to hold dance
WEIRTON--The Weirton Senior Center will be holding a dance from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the center, located at 3425 Main St. There will be a $5 cover charge to get into the dance. Jack Thomas will be playing the music, organizers stated.
Those attending are asked to bring along a covered dish to share with others.
The dance is open to the public.
The next scheduled dance will be held Aug. 15.
Parish to hold chicken dinner
TILTONSVILLE -- St. Joseph Parish in Tiltonsville will hold a chicken dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. Sponsored by the Holy Name Society, the dinner will take place at St. Joseph Church hall, located at 204 Mound St. For a $12 donation, the meal will include a half roasted chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and a dinner roll.
Dine in, carryout or curbside pickup will be available. Those opting for curbside pickup can enter through the alley behind the parish center and exit by the rectory garage. Beverages will cost $1. There will be desserts for sale, a 50/50 drawing and basket drawings. Tickets for the drawings will cost $1 each or six for $5. Advance tickets can be purchased by calling the parish office at (740) 859-4018.
Spaces available for flea market
BLOOMINGDALE -- The Annapolis Open Air Flea Market has been set from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 8. The event will be held at 49998 Annapolis Road in Bloomingdale. There will be hot foods and cold drinks for sale. Set ups for selling merchandise are free and spaces are still available. The flea market is in support of local farmers and community, organizers said.

Peach Festival coming
WEIRTON -- The 61st-annual Peach Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 10 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, located at 300 Three Springs Drive in Weirton. In addition to several types of food which will be sold for either dine-in or takeout, vendors will be on site selling various crafts. Bake sale items will be in abundance, including sweets such as peach shortcakes and peach pies.
St. Mary's Byzantine to hold service
WEIRTON -- A Panachida memorial service will be held to remember our Forebears as part of the Zsdinyak-Rohaly family reunion and in celebration of the 100th-anniversary of St. Mary's Byzantine Church in Weirton. The event will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 10 in the Mausoleum Chapel of St. Paul's Cemetery, located at 104 ½ 24th St. in Weirton.
Presiding over the service will be the Rev. Deacon Nathanael Kline of St. Mary's Byzantine. Buried in St. Paul's Cemetery is Mária Pállyar Zsdinyák Kozar, the eldest ancestor of the family, born March 10, 1847 to Dec. 17, 1935. Family members' graves will be marked in order for personal visitations to be made in these locations in the cemetery. A memorial booklet of all deceased family will be available as a memento.
The people of the Assumption of the Mother of God Byzantine Catholic Church have been invited to attend as part of the 100th-anniversary events of the parish, remembering all the parish who have died. The community is welcome to attend. Organizers noted should a funeral occur on this date, the service will be held outdoors in the upper section at the first family grave.
