Hoppel Rodeo coming to Lisbon Friday and Saturday

LISBON -- Hoppel's Rodeo is set to begin Friday at Hoppel's Arena in Lisbon.
Friday has been designated Veteran's Night. All veterans will be admitted free with a proper identification, officials stated. There will be live entertainment and Operation Flags of Freedom will present a patriotic display of the American flag.
Saturday's event will support the Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign, as the rodeo will focus on Wrangler's Breast Cancer Awareness program. Officials encourage all spectators to wear pink.
Saturday will feature Dreaming of 3 Rodeo Kid and live entertainment. A new addition to this year's lineup will be Kyler "BamBam" Collins, known for bringing fun and excitement to rodeos across the country.
Collins entertains audiences with his unique and energetic performances, carrying on his father's legacy by being a gold card member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. He is a bullfighter and has a lifetime of rodeo experience, officials added.
The two-day rodeo will feature more than 150 contestants competing in two performances.
According to organizers, the Fourth of July holiday is known as "Cowboy Christmas," when cowboys and cowgirls travel hundreds of miles, attending many rodeos throughout the weekend to earn points in order to advance to the NFR. They will compete in bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, girls barrel racing, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, girls break-a-way roping and bull riding.
Hoppel's Arena is an outdoor arena with lawn seating. The events take place rain or shine.
Patrons are asked to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
"It promises to entertain you with many new and exciting clown acts and exhibitions -- plus bring you the sport of rodeo -- keeping our western heritage alive," stated Cathy Woods of the rodeo committee.
Gates open at 5 p.m. and the rodeo begins at 7 p.m. There will be food concessions, vendors and perhaps the opportunity to take pictures with the cowboys, cowgirls, bull fighters and rodeo clowns officials said. Advance tickets will cost $15 for children 3 to 12 and adult tickets will be $15. Prices at the gate will be $15 for children 3 to 12 and $20 per adult. Children under 3 will be admitted free of charge.
