Ride against animal abuse set for July 21

WINTERSVILLE -- The Jefferson County Humane Society will hold its first Ride Against Animal Abuse event beginning at 10 a.m. July 21. The fundraiser will be held rain or shine.

Participants will meet for breakfast at 10 a.m. before heading out in all types of vehicles, including motorcycles, Jeeps, cars and trucks.

Tickets are now available and registration is open. The cost is $10 per person. This covers tickets, breakfast and dinner, along with tons of fun, officials stated.

Those attending will be on the road around noon, make a couple of stops at area businesses and conclude with dinner at 5 p.m. The meals will be served at Rutt's Cross Creek Tavern, located at 3299 county Road 74 in Mingo Junction.

Humane society officials stated there will be a live auction, many drawing prizes and a 50/50 drawing. The proceeds raised through this event will be used toward benefiting humane operations.

Those interested in becoming an event sponsor can do so by contacting the humane society. Sponsorships include $500, $250 or $100. The $500 sponsors will receive two tickets for the event, two event T-shirts, the option to have a table set up in one of the stops along the route, exclusive signage posted at every start, stop and end and an exclusive weekly Facebook post. Humane officials noted there are more than 55,000 Facebook followers on its page.

Those sponsoring $100 will receive your group's signage placed at the start and stop and a Facebook posting.
