Library Friends to meet

WELLSBURG -- The Friends of Brooke County Public Libraries will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wellsburg Library. The group will be making plans for future events and receiving an update on the two libraries. Members stated others are welcome to join them, including anyone who may be interested in joining the group.

STEM Weather Science Show

WEIRTON -- The Mary H. Weir Public Library announced Diana Perry will be on site to teach children about weather. Those in preschool through fifth grade will learn about weather through a show, scheduled from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the library's activity room. Perry will be performing several STEM experiments, officials stated. In addition, she will be selling her book "The Weather by Heather," for $10, officials said. There is no cost or purchase necessary to attend the event. To make a reservation, call (304) 797-8510.

Crochet club to meet

WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library's Crochet Club will meet at noon Wednesday.

The group is for beginners through experts, who should bring their own supplies and projects to work on. Someone will be available to offer assistance or instruction. To register, call (304) 737-1551 or visit brookecountylibs.org/programming-registration.

Meet the Candidate Night set

WEIRTON -- The Hancock County Democratic Executive Committee and Democratic Women, along with the Brooke County Democratic Executive Committee and Democratic Women, will host a Meet the Candidate event at 6 p.m. Aug. 29 at T. Kosciusko Hall, located in the upstairs of B4 Burgers and Grill.

"The Democratic Party wants to give the community every chance possible to get to know their candidates," officials stated. Candidates invited include: Steve Williams, Glenn Elliott, Steven Wendelin, Dave Cantrell, Olivia Dowler, Teresa Toriseva, Dezso Polgar, Dean Harris, Kyle Wilson, Debra Stiles and Mary Ann Claytor.
