STEUBENVILLE -- Grace Lutheran Evangelical Church will be the location for a new Cub Scout Pack which is being organized by local resident Michael Graul.
Graul, an Eagle Scout, stated Scouting America Cub Scout Pack 3 will be open to boys and girls who are in kindergarten through fifth grade.
The group's first meeting has been scheduled to take place beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday at the church, located at 2105 Sunset Blvd. Meetings will be held thereafter at 6 p.m. each Thursday, Graul commented. When asked why it was important for him to begin a new scouting pack, he responded, "I always have been proud of being a part of scouting."
"Once I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, I always wanted to give back to scouting," he added. "The lifelong friendships that were made allowed me to grow as a citizen and as a person. By fostering community, character and lifelong skills, young people will have a chance to grow and develop."
"We plan on doing many activities. He noted activities will include model rocketry, community services, fishing, geocaching and other various outdoor activities. "We plan to help young people grow in the areas of self-confidence, learning and team building. And scouting is a good way to create values that are consistent with the Scout oath and law."
He explained by joining the pack, this will be a "great way for parents to connect with their children and create lifelong memories. I hope to inspire young people to build a sense of pride in our community and become good citizens," Graul concluded.
