WEIRTON -- The Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Women Educators Organization's West Virginia Fidelis Gamma Chapter met Sept. 5 at Eat 'n Park restaurant in Weirton. There were 11 members and three guests in attendance.
President Susan Cullinan welcomed those gathered, while Membership Chairman Ruth Fuller introduced three perspective members, Patty Ferris, Wendy Speer and Sandra Swift. Chaplain Elaine McClung led the "Pledge of Allegiance" and lifted a prayer for America. She read "Antidote for Fear," then gave the blessing.
Secretary Margo Polk provided the minutes online for all members to view. Treasurer Carolyn Allison gave the financial report and provided information regarding yearly dues. In the absence of Eileen Snyder, Fuller read the group's correspondence.
Alpha Delta Kappa Month Chairman Shirley Washam, chairman of the Alpha Delta Kappa Month event, shared information and plans for the celebration to be held in October.
An altruistic form was passed for the members to record their volunteer hours, monetary gifts and donations. These will be recorded by Polk, who serves as altruistic chairman.
Nancy Conley will be submitting articles to the newspaper regarding the monthly meetings. Cullinan shared information on the Ohio Valley District Fall Founder's Day Luncheon. The event will take place Oct. 26 at Williamstown. Members who plan to attend should make reservations prior to Oct. 5 by contacting Cullinan. Attendees enjoyed lunch and a social time with one another, followed by the passing out of forms which need completed for the biennium. Fuller noted the chapter needs assessment forms should be completed and submitted as soon as possible.
Those gathered presented ideas about setting goals in the club and concerns about the group were shared by Conley.
Hostesses for the month were Sandi Anderson, Janet Benzo and Nancy Deters. Hostesses for October's meeting will be Liz Pugh and McClung.
