Fundraising dinners planned this week

The following fundraisers have been planned for the coming week, to help area churches and community centers raise money to help with their building's needs.

Soup, sandwich sale back

WELLSBURG -- Organizers with the Altar and Rosary Society of St. John Catholic Church in Wellsburg announced they will be resuming the church's monthly soup and sandwich fundraiser.

The society will host the returning fundraiser at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church hall. The event will continue until the food has been sold out.

This month's menu will include stuffed pepper soup, ham and bean soup with cornbread and vegetable soup for sale.

Sandwiches featured will be Italian hoagies, barbecued ham, chicken croissants, hot dogs with sauce and hot dogs without sauce.

Many desserts also will be available.

In addition, Sarris candy bars will be sold, organizers stated.

The church will offer dine in eating or a carryout option.

Those wanting to place a carryout order can do so after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

East Springfield dinner set

EAST SPRINGFIELD--The East Springfield Community Center will once again hold a community dinner. The public is invited to attend the fundraising event.

The dinner will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the center, located on county Road 39 next to the firehouse.

This month's menu will consist of cabbage rolls, mashed potatoes, corn, applesauce, dessert and a drink. Each meal will cost $11. Proceeds raised will go back into helping the center, organizers stated.
