The last Wednesdays in Wintersville event of the season was held Sept. 4, as organizers are preparing for a holiday-themed event in December as part of Wintersville's Winter Weekend. The monthly street fair was held throughout the summer and featured various events and activities for people of all ages. Clockwise, from top left, Liz Condon of Sacramento, Calif., a student at Franciscan University of Steubenville, surveyed the many flowers submitted by area residents from their home gardens for a display at Wintersville Methodist Church's Center for Hope. Charged with judging several pies entered into a pie baking contest were, from left, judge Kristan Cafero, coordinator Monica Pendleton of Cake Roll Creations, and judges Theresa Metcalf, B.J. Pendleton, Jonathan Shrieve and Michele Frey. The winner was an apple pie entered by Erica Irvin. Attendees received the opportunity to toss a whipped cream pie in exchange for a donation to A Caring Place Child Advocacy Center. Taking part in the event were, from left, Wintersville Mayor Mike Petrella, audiologist Megan Presley and Realtor James Lash. Members of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church's Catholic Women's Club have been regulars at the event, selling a variety of baked goods. Members included, from left, Deb Kovach, Kathy DiBenedetto, Barbara Gaich and Gloria Beatty. The group is making plans for a December fundraiser that will include the sale of baked goods and soup, as well as craft vendors.
