STEUBENVILLE -- The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County invited the community to step into a world where books come alive and ghosts whisper tales of the past.
The Haunted Main Library branch will be in full swing Oct. 19. The Rusty Bull food truck will be in the parking lot from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. "Monsters of Ohio," author J.C. Raphael will visit at 11 a.m. to share stories from his book -- a comprehensive chronicling of creatures of cryptozoology, folklore and urban legend, including, the Lake Erie Monster, Loveland Frogs, Grassman, Crosswick Monster, Peninsula Python and Defiance Wolfman. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Children and teens: Make spooky crafts between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Children will decorate cupcakes and make disco ghosts. Teenagers will create haunted miniatures. Cryptid mug glazing will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., as those 14 and older join in the Ready, Aim, Fire ceramics studio for a special ceramics glazing class and take-home cryptid mug. Space is limited and registration is required. A family movie will be shown from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Have a hauntingly good time when your family sits down to watch one of Disney's most popular haunted movies. Call to find out the title.

Adults: Crochet night will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 16. Bring your project to the library to work on in the company of others. This is not an instructional program.
