STEUBENVILLE -- The Rev. Steven McKeown is celebrating his 20th anniversary with St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Steubenville.
He became rector of the church on Aug. 1, 2004.
McKeown was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and arrived in the United States in 1987.
During his tenure as the spiritual leader at St. Paul's, he has guided the congregation through many occasions, including baptisms, confirmations, marriages, funerals and the COVID pandemic.
He has been a comforting presence for the parishioners in good times and during times of personal adversity, his congregation members stated.
Along with his duties as rector, McKeown serves as a chaplain to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's office in Pittsburgh.
He is a member of the religious Community Celebration in Aliquippa, Pa.
McKeown leads the services at St. Paul's church at 9:30 a.m. Sundays.
The community is invited to attend any of the services.
A celebration of his 20-year anniversary took place Sept. 29.
A service was held with special guest the Rev. Moni McIntyre presiding. A bagpipe player, Betsy Bethel-McFarland, provided music along with church organist Eric Fithyan.
A catered luncheon followed the event, attended by the St. Paul's congregation and members of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Steubenville.
